Just had my BCM replaced by dealer
I just got my car back from my dealer today after several weeks of intermittent idiot lights showing up on my dash. Traction control, Security, etc. They would light up, then go away after the car cooled down, sometimes they came on while driving and would stay on for a couple of weeks. They ended up replacing the BCM module, saying that the BCM had "water intrusion". After talking with the Service Manager about it, he said the air-conditioning drain can get plugged up, and water finds it's way to the BCM and corrodes the contacts.
Anyone else out there had their BCM replaced, and was water intrusion the cause?
Rick

Happened to me yesterday. CAr died coming off the highway, stranded for an hour. Flatbedded to Albertson Chevrolet in Culver City, got the call today that it was a faulty BCM, and they also said it burned out my windows.
I hope this is a ine time event as the car is only 7 months old w/7000 miles.
How long did yours take to fix?

Glad they got it fixed Rick. Did they do anything to stop the water from getting in again?

Water from the air conditioner drain being plugged is very common. It makes one wonder is GM designed this into the C5 so that we regularly carry a passenger with us. A passenger with a wet left foot will certainly alert the driver of a problem.

The tube is thick and then gets smaller, to a very small opening. I just cut the small end opening of the tube off so it is larger. May help, but who knows :D

Preventive maintenance : Pull the BCM out (spring clip retainer) keeping the connectors plugged in, then wrap the BCM in a plastic bag, and pop it back into its mounting clips. Takes about 3 minute to do.

Where is the BCM located and how do you pull it out? What tools are required?

Jigsaw,
The same thing happened to my 1999 C5 coupe - immobilizing my car for five days while out-of-state on vacation with my wife.
Chevrolet provided a replacement car (a Toyota) and repaired the problem under the new car warranty.
This is a very common defect with the C5's and Chevrolet is well aware of the problem (just like the defective steering column locks). They have chosen to ignore the problem and only repair it under warranty.
Good luck.

BCM is located under the "kick panel" at the lower front of the passenger's foot well. Pull up carpetted panel and you will see it. :)
