Re: OffRoad vs. Random Tech 3 High Flow on big motor (EuG)
I'd like to see some dyno's on Random Tech's versus stock cats on a smaller motor. Has anyone done that? In fact, stock cats vs. RT vs offroad on our little 346 would be nice to see!

Awesome results!
A few questions - did you put in straight pipes or an off road x-pipe? Did you tune afterwards? If yes, did your A/F ratios change at all before tuning?

Car was tuned with off-road pipes we swapped the cats on and A/F was pretty close:
P.S.
ElDiablo,
Is that on the road track

Ok I am stupid here. By the responses ..people think you got these gains by adding the Randon Tech...
By Offroad I take it you have no cats and then added the Random Tech after.
Are you saying that going from NO Cats to Random Tech Cats you saw a gain?

I was just considering going with high flows over my current catless setup.
I think not now.. :smash: :smash:

Yep I understand..
Actually if you analyze the Dyno.. you actually loose hp/tq up to about 3200rpm. then is makes a quick transition to a gain....and stays there.

I went from 408/376 rwhp/rwt to 433/397, a gain of 25/21 - measured on the same dyno. The only change was replacing the cats with a single straight pipe designed by Mufflex. That's running through stock mufflers. There was no appreciable change in air/fuel ratios.

chuckster ,
Youre right. :yesnod: I just loaded both run in the viewer again and theres a ~5-7rwTq loss between 2.5
K - 3k rpm and then off-road takes over.
I think such a small loss over such a short rpm window is more than justified with pretty significant gains all over the rest of the curve. :D

Re: OffRoad vs. Random Tech 3 High Flow on big motor (EuG)
Timely information. Have a set of off road pipes to replace my high flow cats on my 396. Most of the guys with the off road pipes seem to be 10-15 HP/TQE higher on their 396 set ups. Have a 3 inch race exhaust with an xpipe and tuneable mufflers in the back from Power Effects. Not sure why these mufflers could not be fitted on a C5 with a custom exhaust. Closing them does help the noise quite a bit.
