Pop Up Headlight Motor Noise
On Wednesday I installed a Blackwing. I disconnected the negative battery cable first. When I reconnected the battery cable, I heard a motor whirring, which continued until the cable was snugged up toght on the post. Since then, I hear the same noise for several seconds after I turn the headlights off and they return to the closed position. No noise on opening, just for several seconds after closing. I am not getting any codes. Thoughts, suggestions?

Re: Pop Up Headlight Motor Noise (HBJ)
Exactly what I had a couple months ago. Bad headlight motor, probably a stripped gear. Just a coincidence that it showed up after disconnecting your battery. I took mine into the dealer and they swapped it out, no problems. Took about an hour.

Yep, you've got a faulty headlamp actuator/motor. Soon it will start making horrible grinding noises after the unit retracts. Just had the same problem. The dealer should replace it for you under the warranty.

I just got my car back from the dealer 2 days ago for the same thing. It was the headlight actuator. They replaced it and it works fine now. It shouldn't take the dealer very long to fix it, and it's definently a warranty item.

Same thing happend to mine about 5 weeks ago. No problems turning on but a very loud and teeth chattering clattering sound for about 6 to 8 seconds after it was closed. The internal gear on the headlight motor stripped out.
best of luck
