The next time you go to that dealer walk in backwards that way when he goes to do business with you he won't have to turn you around :bs :mad

If you need to get it unstuck before taking it in to the dealer, remove the sill plate on the affected side (it just pops off), then you can get at the mechanism. Usually you can work it loose.

What's the different b/w safety recall and TSBs? I looked at the NHTSA site and it's listed under Technical Service Bulletin, right under the fuel level anomaly that most of us encountered.

A TSB is an internal GM technical procedure for correcting known problems.
A Recall was issued, and a TSB was applied to correct the problem.

Re: Heads up - Seat Belt NOT covered by warranty (wwashing)
I agree with Buckmaster. My Cobra at 57K miles had its seat belt fail. It was replaced free, although I had to wait 3 days for parts! This is a fairly common failure for me, as I have 2 more cars now with "lazy" seat belts. Both are Fords but this seems to be a common problem, as I have heard about it from other owners of different brands.

Gunny,
Check to see what your state law says about seat belt warranties. In the state of Kansas, they are covered under warranty for a period of 10 years.
Call a dealer and ask about the above.
Good luck.

Go back to the dealer and put the service managers head in the seat belt...then proceed to drive forward with him outside the car to verify the defect... :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :bs

I have a hard time believing that the service manager REALLY was told by GM that this is not covered under warranty. Sounds like they want your $115, and then will collect from GM as well under warranty. Call Chevrolet yourself (as others have suggested) and report them. Then (if I were you) I'd call the service manager and tell him that he's busted.. :yesnod:

AFVETTE... Tom, I was told this by Jack Schmidt Chevy... our dealer of choice. :( I was standing right next to Rich Hood while he was on the phone with GM to inquire whether it was covered. GM said NO.
I'm just back from a business trip (catching up on this thread... sorry) so I'll talk with our dealer again and see if they still insist it's not covered. And thanks to everyone who posted about the safety recall notice.. I've printed that and will slide it under the shop manager's nose, nicely. :)
The supercharger on the wife's Riviera died late last week. This is NOT good. Am told it's a total replacement only.... must be my month for car problems. Perhaps I'll use the Chenowth this month and let the C5 sit til September. :jester
