Default Power Steering Pulley Shaft way too hot on my 99' FRC/46k!!

Hello fellow forum members. I just started having a loud whining sound from the power steering pump shaft, & noticed that the shaft was too hot for comfort, after just a few minutes of running my engine. My fluid is fairly clean & at it's proper level, & I have OK power steering. I know that I'm going to have get it to a shop, but I'm concerned that maybe I should have it towed, instead of driving it there. Anybody have any idea as to what is going on with my power steering pump, & it's adjoining parts? Thanks.

Sounds like it's on the verge of self-destruction. If your "shop" is a reasonable distance away, you're likely OK if you at least start off with a cold engine. Make sure the system gets a good flush to clean it out.

Tip: Replace the plastic pump pulley with the metal LS2 pulley. Direct bolt-on "plug-n-play" with no belt (length) change required, and less than $20.00. 12568997
