Thanks for the information Lonestar. I'm not an expert corvette mechanic. A corvette has two fuel pumps? Are they both in the tank?
Why two?

Thanks for the info Smoken. The car has two gas tanks. Didn't know that.
If one pump fails will the car still get you home?

No, the "main" electric pump is in the drivers side. No motorized pump in the right, just a jet pump that transfers fuel over as you drive. If the left pump goes you are done. Each side does have a level sensor though.

If you want to learn about how jet pumps work and can't find the info with an internet search let me know.
Here is what your design looks like.

Thanks for the info Dadaroo. I'm an old school backyard mechanic and this new stuff has just left me behind. I just recently had to replace the pump in my 1998 chev pickup and since the vette is a 1999 I thought I would look into it a little bit. I'm starting to get it now. So can the jet pump go out (since it's not electric)?

Yes the jet pump can fail. Normally getting clogged if I remember the most common issue. Can try to clean it. Generally people have issues with the senders which get contaminated. Most Forum users put Techron in the fuel system to preclude that or to actually clean up a problem sensor. I use it for sure.

True story. I also prefer to use Chevron or Texaco gas on a routine basis when possible, as Techron is part of the additive package in Chev/Tex gasolines.

If no Chev/Tex stations in the area when traveling, I will at least stick to a Top Tier gas such as Shell, Exxon, BP, Mobil, etc. Bottles of Techron concentrate are sold at pretty much all AP stores, and a full bottle added at oil change time is a good idea.

I have a pump from my 02' Z06 with ~45k if you need something cheap. You would need to use your old sending unit plate, etc. $50 shipped

Here is a good review of the system design. Does not work the way you might think with 2 tanks.

Most people would think in a performance car the tanks would feed gas so as to balance the weight distribution, but not so.

Read paragraph 4. May explain some funky gauge reading changes when first driving the car after the car it has sitting for some time.
