Default Torque converter out of car - how to get fluid out?

I have a 2800 stall Yank torque converter out of the car. The converter was working just fine when taken out. How do I get the trans fluid out of the torque converter? Is it as simple as holding it at an angle and hoping it all drains out?
Thanks for your help...........JD

you really don't if it doesn't have a drain plug

which is why when ever I have rebuilt an auto trans that blew up it got a converter too....not going to wreck the trans by having the junk in the converter make its way to the trans itself....

Conversely if it didn't blow to smithereens, what I've done is yank the return line and route it to a 1 gallon jug. Next, overfill the trans 2 quarts and start the motor. Let it run until the jug is full, add a gallon to the trans, fill the next empty jug, repeat until the jug comes out cherry red. Be sure that you have a new filter in prior to all of this. Last time I did this, the 3rd jug looked nice and clean but I did a 4th one for ***** and giggles. After they all sat for a week, the 4th jug, despite being cherry red, still had some sediment on the bottom. I later used jugs 3 and 4 as the first 2 sacrificial jugs in my next trans flush on the wife's car.

OK, thanks for the input. I guess the place that took it out may have drained what they could. OR, the darn thing is just heavy by itself.

Have a great day. JD

I have had some success with a 60cc syringe and a cut off piece of IV tubing.
Some rebuilds come with a drain plug

I have seen people seal the neck with a rag, invert it and hit it with air pressure after draining it as well as they could
Also: local trans shop can flush for a small fee
