Press and hold the button for 5+ seconds. It will say Competitive Mode on the DIC.
If it is a 2001 or newer, you can do it while moving. 2000 and below, you have to be stopped.

Ok, I've been wanting to ask this question for some time now, and this seems like a good place...
When you activate comp mode, it displays on the DIC. You can't get anything else up on the DIC until you press reset. So, my question is: When you press reset, is competition mode still enabled? By the way the car drives, there have been times I think it is still enabled and times it feels like it isn't.

Good question. I don't recall anything about that in the manual. It would seem to me that hitting reset only resets the DIC and you would have to hit the AH button to get it back to normal. I think that the DIC just gives information and doesn't actually control anything.
Maybe C5Tech or someone else has the answer.

....Pressing reset will only clear the DIC, leaving Comp mode engaged as confirmed by the fact that you can do a burnout and the AH light remains OFF on the dash. :D

So what exactly does competition mode allow? You can burnout but still have the handling stability. SOunds like fun to me. One problem, those tires are EXPENSIVE!!!! Once these get worn down, what is a good replacement that isn't going to cost an arm and a leg.

I made the mistake of punching it in 1st with the TC on a few weeks ago :eek: :eek: :eek: ... lets just say I am now in "competition" mode all the time. :D :cheers:

I did notice on my '01, that if I set competition mode while the car is in Neutral that it will display comp mode on the DIC, but the car was not actually in comp mode. It is repeatable every time, I found out at the track when I was about to heat the tires up and they wouldn't spin! I don't know if all of the C5s are like this, or if my AH is messed up, but I almost had a potentially embarassing moment because of it....

The info is correct... pushing reset does nothing other than clear the "Competition Mode" message.
If you discovered how much better the car is to drive in Competition Mode, check out our TracActive Controller. It automatically puts the computer into Competition Mode everytime you start the car. We even have a Deluxe model with clears the DIC for you!

I am totally interested in the Trac Active controller, I would like the car to start up and be in Competition Mode all the time. I was always getting on my old car, and would ofter forget to take off the traction control. I want the Active Handling on but not the tracktion control. Please email me a price,,or maybe if there is enough people on here we can do a GP.

You know that CM is still enabled when you hit reset to clear the DIC.......because your TC light will be on (showing it is disabled) and the AH light will be off (showing it is enabled)
All -in-all AH aids the driver in the ability to correct the car from a spin. It is not full proof, but it does help out a lot!
By just pushing your TC button....you disable both TC and AH! So with CM activated you will still be able to do a burnout without any negative effects! Unless of coarse you begin to go sideways......in which case the car will try to correct it self back to a straight line with the aid of the driver using the AH!

That is the TC light. If it is on it means TC and AH are not engaged. CM turns TC off, leaves AH engaged, and shows no light. If the light comes on & stays on or comes on and the DIC shows a "service traction system" message there is problems with your TC system that needs service.
