Headers installed. wont run, low oil level...
So long story short..er , I spent the day installing 1 7/8 xs headers. Fitment was decent. I noticed on the pass side burnt dried out wires near the headers. i had to splice one wire back together as it was broken. anyway i did that finished the install and attempted to start the car. It will start, then it sputters out and dies. After a few attempts it stayed running. But then after i turned it off and tried to restart it , its sputters right back out. Its showing a low oil level message on the DIC, but no codes are coming up.... Any ideas? could the crank sensor wiring have gotten messed up? i would assume the oil level sensor wiring did. Any help would be great.

I would start at the problem wires you found during your install. If it ran fine and won't run now it has to be something in the wiring as there is really not too much to mess up during a header install.

Exactly what i thought. so i went back in and traced the wires all the way up until they go into area of wire loom and merge with a larger harness. Some of the wiring had missing insulation so i taped them up i thought they would be good to go, but still nothing. Do some of those wires go to the oil level sensor? how about the crank sensor? I have no codes.

Did the 02 sensors gets crossed? Very easy to do with a header install. I get the same low oil level message daily. I have replaced my oil level sender twice now with no luck.

negative. no crossing going on. I was just looking at some pics. for some reason i think i have some wires to the starter mixed up. Would the starter still work though? Maybe since i have the power going to the positive on the starter it will work but one of the smaller fuseable links i think i may have in the wrong location....

I am having a similar, although, belated problem...I installed a stock c6 exhaust system in my 2000 vert...the C6 exhaust manifolds are like headers and really woke the car up...but I think I may be having a heat related wiring problem....It does crank...sometimes it starts, but when it does..it runs for maybe 15 minutes if I try to drive around the block...then stalls and won't restart...I am thinking a wire is getting burned...I will remove my pass side exhaust manifold and see whats going on down there.

You removed all the wires from the starter? All you really have to do is unhook the negative terminal on your battery and you should be good. No reason to unhook the starter and all that jazz.

Could be a few things related to spark plugs. 1st, ensure all your plug wires are properly snapped in place to both the coil pack and the spark plug, remove them all and re-connect. If this doesn't solve the problem, you may have damaged a spark plug while removing your old headers/installing new by bumping one of the plugs. Hope this helps.

changed the plugs and wires with brand new units. they do fire , the car was running a few times after i installed the headers, thats why im thrown. You would think if i had wires in the wrong places i wouldnt get it to run. btw what is a u1064?

I just replaced my starter, it sporadically would not start, and no codes. I have headers and it is a PIA. If I was putting headers on I would definitely put on a new starter. The small gray wire with small o ring goes on small terminal, all 3 of other wires goes on larger empty terminal.

U1064 code is related to grounding. It is associated with Ground 105 under the engine block on the drivers side. If that grond point is loose or burnt it can cause several problems. Your fuel pump is grounded at G105 for instance. Locate that ground point and inspect and trace all wires connected to it.

Checked everything i could. I didn't have anymore time to mess with it between work and life so i flatbeded it down to chuck at corvettes of westchester. It like 5 miles from my house and i planned on having him tune it anyway. First time any vehicle has ever defeated me. I lost a little bit of my manhood that day.
