Default C5 headlight malfunction

My left headlight occasionally does not pop up or close down. There is also a clicking noise (solenoid?) from the headlight area for 3-5 seconds after the engine has been turned off. Appreciate any helpful comments. Thanks, Horst

Maybe the plastic gear is worn.
This anodized aluminum gear repair kit comes with a T bracket to hold the cap better than just gluing it together after replacing the gear.
The brass gear kits don't come with this bracket.

Thanks for the recommendation. Will look into the gear as you mentioned. Horst

I had the same problem and fixed it with the replacement metal motor gear. It's not too difficult of a task after I found several step by step instructions in Google search as well as YouTube videos. Just type in C5 Corvette headlight motor repair.
