Default Upgraded to 3 rib plus extras. Be scared at track still?

Hey guys.. I admit I need to pull the tampon out and just go to the track and find out for myself but I have a wife that loves racing, loves making the car fast, but her head explodes when the car breaks.. She just wants to sell it at that point..

Car is a C5 6speed with Textrailia OZ700 clutch

I broke the 1 rib last year (not sure when, it just cracked the case and caused a leak).. I installed a 3 rib 3:42 out of a 20,XXX mile non ZO6 car.. I have also installed the C6 ZO6 output shafts, DTE brace AND the Pfadt mount.. so I think I am pretty solid to be on a stock rear..

Car makes about 400 on motor and I dont spray directly out of the hole.. I had hoosier drag radials before and I'm guessing they are what broke the old 1 rib diff.. With my new setup should I still be puckering my butthole on hard launches at the strip or will it be pretty solid?? I am considering doing a bias ply Hoosier slick on Fbody 16" wheels this year and wasnt sure if that is going to 100% grenade the diff?? So, in a round about way what is the 3 rib able to hold with the upgrades??

Rearend should be fine with the C6 up-grades. HOWEVER, even professionally built hardened rearends will break IF,, you have any extended wheel hop!!

To "HELP" combat wheel hop, up-grade to the PFADT differential mount:

I have the C6 ZO6 shocks and they also seem to help prevent wheel hop.

If you expierence wheel hop, get off the throttle.

Going with a bias ply tire can help too along with slipping out the clutch

I already have the Pfadt mount and I had been reading that drag radials were harder on the drivetrain and thats why I thought about the bias ply's instead.. I guess I will just have to bolt on some tires and start playing with my launch to find that comfy spot of getting the 60" down while keeping the rearend happy

Do you have a dte brace? If not, why?

Btw...if your wife likes all that, tell her it's part of the game. Don't like it, don't play

Agree with Bill 100%. Wheel hop will kill anything. I had severe wheel hop kill my 3rib in September at the track. It was a RPM level III with an ECS Diff Brace and Hinson Supercars Urethane Mount. I think I launched at too low in the RPM's, but worn suspension bushings could have played part. So I just upgraded to all Pfadt control arm bushings. Hopefully this worked, but won't know until it warms up and tracks open.

The big weak point in the stock stuff is the 27 spline mainshaft.

I broke mine just shifting 1 to 2 on the street from a roll.

There are no guarantees in racing. The closest you can get to a guarantee is going with the tr6060/c6z drivetrain swap.
