Default Help, I can't stand the squealing!!!

Ok, so a few months ago I noticed that my car was squealing, so I took it in to Chevy, they told me it was the belts, so instead of them replacing them, I did it. That only made it worse, a lot worse, so I took it back to chevy again. After they had it for a few hours they say that it was never the belts, it was the harmonic balancer???? I am not super knowledgeable about this, so I tell them ok change it. It was like $600 or something. Once I got it back everything was great. Now I have put maybe another 1000 miles on the car, drove from Oklahoma to Florida, and now it is back.

Now let me give the symptoms. The only time it is squealing is when the A/C is on. That is how it was last time before I changed the belts.

What do you guys think, I am now in a different state so I cant take it back to the same dealer. What should I do?

Thanks

You should probably replace all the tensioners and idler pulleys (main belt and A/C belt)

Are you running gator back belts? If not, you should. If its an a4, replace the alternator pulley too. They die at 90k orsooner.

If it's only squealing when the AC is on, then don't mess with your accessory belt. Just replace the AC idler, tensioner, and belt.

On my car what sounded just like a squeaky belt turned out to be an idler pulley.
