Default Passport 8500

I know, I know, Valentine 1's are the clear choice for radar wave reception on the Forum but I got a great deal on a Passport 8500 at the grand opening of an Ultimate Electronics store today, sooo.

For those of you that have the 8500 (It doesn't have the cool arrows but it is a very good detector, btw) Did you use the smartcord hardwire?

I just ordered the hardwire kit and wondered where you other users are mounting the remote module?

Have you seen the latest detector test over at http://www.speedzones.com/test2002new/test2002.htm

The new radar detector from Precision Navigation looks like it might be a good contender now. There were several detectors that did better than the 8500 this time, not just Valentine.

I used the standard hardwire and mounted the detector to the left of the rearview mirror. The hardwire is connected to the accessory leads in the passenger footwell, and is concealed until it exits the windshield molding alongside the wires that go the the rearview mirrior. I didn't need the smartcord since, where I mounted it, it's just as easy to look at the detector.

Not! I'm just asking owners of the 8500 to respond about mounting locations for the hardwire remote. No comparisons.
