Default Oil temp 250 Coolant 225 (Texas 103 Degree Heat)

Just a few quick replies please. I have a heavily modded heads and cam 2001 C5 with a 160 T-Stat, I think? Got T-Stat 10 years ago.

I am in Dallas and was in lots of stop n go traffic for over an hour. It was OVER 100 degrees out and I had my A/C on.

I NEVER saw temps this high ever! Oil went to a HIGH of 250 and Coolant was 225. Was this just because of the stop n go for over an hour and 103 degree Texas Heat? it drove fine, but just want to make sure I don't need to check my T-Stat or this is OK as long as this is NOT the norm.

I also need to check my coolant to see if it is full?

It has been about 90 a couple days since i had my 03z. When it's that warm I have seen the water hit 220 and oil hit 232 just driving around on city streets and sitting at lights with the ac on. Sounds normal to me.

make sure your surge tank has the proper level as they are known to leak.

if you were on the highway parking lot with no air movement most likely a normal situation.

That's normal The oil temp should be 20-30 higher than the coolant as far as coolant temps you are gtg..

The low speed cooling fan is commanded on when the coolant temperature reaches 108°C (226°F). It is turned off if the coolant temperature lowers to 104°C (219°F). The high speed cooling fan is commanded on when the coolant temperature reaches 113°C (235°F). It is turned off if the coolant temperature lowers to 108°C (226°F). When the A/C is on and the coolant temperature reaches 85°C (185°F), the low speed cooling fan will be turned on at vehicle speeds less than 56 kPh (35 mph).

This is right from the tech manual.

This one's "heavily modded" and tuned, so I doubt factory fan temps apply here.
