Default Clutch Pedal Dropped to the Floor...Need Help

During my first run at E'town this past weekend, found my clutch pedal on the floor (momentarily wouldn't return to a normal height). After sitting a while, it returned to a full extended position and shifted normally going home. Other than changing out the clutch assembly (which I am thinking about doing), I understand there is a bulletin of sorts from GM on this matter which addresses the problem. It involves change out of the master cylinder and some other(?) things(anybody know what they are?). In the meantime, plan to change the clutch fluid for starters. Are there any other remedies I need to consider? Appreciate the help and thanks.

Hey Joe, might be time for a clutch upgrade, especially if you are going to run drag radials at the track :yesnod: Good luck

Mike, I agree...now comes the hard part, which one? After reading posts on this subject on this and other forums, the decision is a hard one as mine is a daily driver that see's occasional track time. Been thinking about going with a Z06 unit. If you had to do it again, which would you choose?

Seems to me that every replaced clutch assembly does not fair well either...

If you are serious about running your car or Future HP. Why not set yourself up with an aftermarket system. ??

I am happy with my DD McLeod with Aluminum Flywheel, Adjustable Master & Zo6 Slave. Although you may want the Steel Flywheel for Drag racing.

When I upgrade my clutch for more HP it will be a CARTEK. I've herd nothing but good things on Cartek Clutch systems.

I had the same thing happen to me.I had the whole clutch replaced under warranty about 2 weeks ago.The master cylinder and master slave and clutch assembly. If you dealer doesn't know about have them call GM tech assistance and they will tell them exactly what to do.

So are you saying that GM Tech Assistance instructed the dealer to swap out the whole clutch assembly under warranty for you?? If there a reference number or something that a Tech could refer to when they call the GM Tech Assistance folks?

I had my master and slave cylinders replaced for the 2nd time under warranty a month ago to fix this problem but it didn't really fix it. The 1st time they replaced the entire clutch and that did fix it. I'm thinking of taking it back and insisting the entire assembly be replaced.

mine did this all the time, replaced the master and slave twice before giving up. Not to mention 3 clutches. I now have the cartek adjust master and that has fixed the problem. After doing a 1/4 mile pass the clutch does feel a little mushy sometimes but at least its not stuck to the floor like it used to be.

Stock clutch? Most likely your Slave or TO Bearing needs to be replaced.

Joe if I had it all over again, I would have went with the StarIII clutch setup. I hate the chatter of my clutch, but that was an early design for Cartek. I heard that the newer designs dont chatter at all. You drove my car, the clutch is strong. I would recomend it especially if you are planning on adding heads and cam to your beast. :yesnod:  Question is your car still under warranty? If so, get the Cartek clutch put in for free and let the warranty eat the labor :D
