How do you guys turn the engine over while engine is in the car?
I am just curious on how to turn the 24 mm crankbolt while engine is in car without removing the steering rack. Anyone make a modified tool for this?

I did. I cut the end off of a socket and welded it to a flat bar. I then bent the bar to suit so I can get it in there. 12 point gives more flexibility for getting in there as well.

Not sure if you have clearance since my car is not at home. I have sometimes had to use a box end wrench to get into similar tight locations. In one case I had to use a cutoff wheel to remove the open end of the combination wrench so I could put a piece of pipe onto it as an extension. had to do this on my wife's Lexus to remove an oxygen sensor. Don't use the open end of the wrench since you don't want to round anything off. Removing some spark plugs will also reduce the effort to rotate the crank. Hope this gives you an idea or two.

Remote starter button works really well, the downside is you have top hook it to the starter solenoid.
Or remove all the plugs and grab the alt drive belt and turn it that way just watch out and don't get your fingers caught in the pulley.

with the spark plugs removed.
This is how I turned the engine when I changed out the valve springs.
Example... wrench is best to be around 14" in length.

I made my own by milling four sides on a 24 mm socket. That way I can use a wrench to grab it from the side. Plus, this way, if I don't have a good angle on it with the wrench, I can flip the wrench and grab it again for the next turn. I usually use a medium size adjustable with it and it works great. Made a few for my C5 buds a few years ago.

Here is a picture of the tool I made for an oxygen sensor (22m). By cutting off the open wrench end it allows me to slide on a pipe to add leverage. I started to cut it off with my electric hacksaw (sawzall) but it was going nowhere fast. I pulled out my cutoff tool (carbide disc) and it cut thru it like hot butter.

I bought a 24MM box/open end combination wrench at Lowes......
And if you have a little patience, you CAN turn it over with the plugs in place, you just have to wait a few seconds between movements, to allow the cylinders to bleed down.
