Default C5 panic alarm malfunction

I was unable to deactivate my panic alarm after accidentally pressing it on my keychain. I pushed the button again, started the car and the horn blew for about five minutes while I fumbled through my garage looking for the correct socket to disconnect the battery. Later that day I reconnected the battery and the alarm resumed. Since then, I removed the horn fuse. Any ideas as to the problem or what I can do to repair it? Thank you.

My car is a 2004 with a factory installed panic alarm. I am wits end trying to figure this problem out.

You said it started when you pressed the panic button, any chance that it started on its own? A known problem with these cars is the horn membrane in the steering wheel going bad and the horn blowing all the time. If so, replacement membranes are available from the after market.

Do the lights flash while the horn is blowing?

Default Still guessing

I am positive I pushed the panic alarm button on my fob. The lights did not flash. I did toy around with the options and I believe I have deactivated the panic alarm. I don't want to test it until I am out of earshot of my neighbors. I already woke them once.
