In Uncle Sam's Canoe Club that was called "Easter Egging It" - just keep replacing enough parts until you eventually "fix" it.
Did they at least give you a free pair of autographed GM ankle-handles when you paid your bill?

ouch! in looking back. you may have gotten a second opinion....
people tend to think that the dealer always knows best...it really depends on the mechanic whos doing the job... im sorry for your situation.......

It is the plethora of stories like this that keep me doing all the work on my car, regardless of the cost to me in specialty tools, or whatever. Seems there's an epidemic of serial rape around dealerships in this country. I don't even mind paying a premium for "good" work, but sadly, you don't often get that, and then premium doesn't really describe what you pay.

What is that number above for? Who does it reach? I would call it an complain. I thought customers where protected from dealers and shops that incorrectly diagnose and charge for what did not need done. If they changed all that and it turned out to be something different, you should not have to pay for the other work.

Basically yes--The corvette specialist and the corvette mechanic--works on corvettes only--did not know that a fuel line from the filter to the tank had a CHECK_VALVE in it--it was stuck open and would allow the gas to drain back to the tank when car was shut-off thus not keeping the line pressurized--had to turn key afew times to start--NOW with the new line it fires up instantly--that line cost me 180.00--but guess what--NC for labor--big of them for sure--Did not need new fuel pumps but WTF--They said they called around to diff. mechanics ect. all decided i needed new pumps--live and learn is part of life--

With your Corvette having such low miles it should have been a courtsey warranty job. Better yet the "corvette specialist" should have been on the phone calling Bowling Green to find how how to solve your problem. What Chev dealers did they call (BS)? Did they call Kerbeck ? Criswell ? Bud Chrevrolet ? I could name alot more Corvette Dealers here on the forum.

If this is a number for Gm, my experience with them is that you'll get more satisfaction calling a 900 number for phone sex. They will do NOTHING about any problem you have with a dealer, they have no interest what so ever in assisting you with problems you've had with service, even when you provide proof of outright fraud. You have to sue the dealership to get satisfaction.

are they responsible for the guy who has the 78 with 3 miles on it??
lack of driving is probably why he had the issue...classic case of why buying a used low miles car is not always a good thing
as for the charges for what they did until they figured it out I agree that's on them not on the OP.
I would certainly dispute it....not his fault they diagnose by replacing stuff till it works.

I agree with all of you--but its now-water under the bridge and gone--the car runs like a brand new 01 and that is what matters right now-- but i do believe that the check-valve in that line is new to many mechanics--had i known it would have saved me alot of $$,,But i did hit a $4,000.00 dollar royal today--with 150.00 invested so--im happy--i normally only play quarters--I was looking for a decent win and got it--Thx guys for all the advice--

That's why over and over we tell you to stay out of dealerships.

They still can charge that even though that wasn't the issue? Why would you pay for labor or parts that wasn't the issue? Shouldn't they just charge you for the line and eat what they didn't know? Kinda confused
