[PROCEDURE] - C5 Corvette HVAC Dim Display Fix

The lights for the buttons when the headlights are on. The amber indicator lights still work normally. It is the backlighting when the lights are on. Nothing to do with soldering the resistors and the now working HVAC LED display. Just my fumbling of all the buttons and the rubber backing that may have broken something.
Thanks

You may want to send it off to repair.
I'm not sure who repairs these though...
Maybe someone watching this thread does ?
Sorry

Should I be able to test the Individual lights one at a time with a 12 volt source from the solder side of the board. I have tried but absolutely none have worked.

They all could be out all but 1 of mine where. As for a difference in the 2 bulbs both cars looked about the same. Just the 1154's did not have the micro fine wires that the 1092's have and thats what he brought me to use

Just like to thank you Toque for the excellent instructions, and pictures as to how to fix that little display problem. Worked great, and for the first time since I have owned the car, I can now see the display. Thanks again

Very nicely done Toque. Your write ups are the best one stop shop for folks looking to fix or service their C5. Thanks for all your efforts
I am wondering if this will help my hvac. Everything is fine except for the indicator led on the "AC" button is very dim. I had my lighting changed out by tstar years ago but wonder if it's this need for new solder that has the one light so dim.
Great post.

Great post.
If you had LED's installed, and one is dim then I would suspect:
1.) Its not aimed correctly inside the botton. I had to aim mine a bit for max brightness
2.) Solder connections can go cold after time. Touching it up could help.
3.) Replace the LED behind that button. It might just be a bad LED.

Thanks Toque. Just got done doing mine did you know it is 87 degrees outside here in the panhandle of Nebraska? First time I have been able to see the display without having to be 2 inches from it since I bought my C5. This is a great forum with great information and people
