((HOW TO)) Complete C5 body panel/Interior removal/installation info.................
I'll make this more detailed later, for now post up questions on C5 body or interior items
Body, you can completety remove every panel with a T15, 7,8,10,13mm socket/wrench in 4 hours (rocker and roof are bonded to car)
Interior, same tools, T47 will work on the belts; dash/carpet/seats/consoles, I've swapped 100's
Again, for now just a quick idea I had, I will actually add info later......
Original Build Sheet from Bowling Green?? it's behind your front bumper cover in the front frame rail/face bar(bumper cover must be removed)

Have an 02 Z06. Want to remove the dash piece to the left of the steering wheel. It's the piece that holds the trunk release button. Can I just remove the knee panel under the steering wheel to get access to it? Thanks for your help.

if you organize this thread so someone can search for parts they want to remove, this could be one of the best threads in C5 Tech

x2 T15 screws at bottom of panel
remove trunk switch, x1 T15 screw behind switch
remove vent on RHS of st. wheel, x1 T15 screw
during removal, you'll notice x2 'clips' that retain the LHS kick panel in place
during installation, notice the HVAC floor duct, this is often 'missed', the kick panel will be above this duct

I want to paint the front bumper cover and I believe I can get the best job by removing the cover. How long and how much trouble is this job (cover removal and reinstallation) in your estimation?

Took me about 30 minutes the 1st time, the hardest bolts to get to are the ones that bolt the fascia to the fenders. Get a LONG extension and swivel. A second set of hands can help keep other painted surfaces from getting banged up (or a few pieces of masking tape).

My winter project is to remove front bumper to install tow hook. Step by step with some pics would be nice. Some of us are accountants and are mechanically challenged.

Back to the doors. Does the wire harness unplug at the cowl? I'm on the fence wether to remove them for paint or spray them on the car.
On the front cover, those fender bolts are easy to reach through the openings for the parking lights. I've been test fitting the frt end and must have had the cover on and off a half dozen times. I don't remember if the lights come out first but suspect they did. Anyway, I don't remember any issues removing mine. I use a rechargeable drill with a 1/4 drive adapter and it really speeds up the process with all the screws.

I think I am going to do my tow hook install this weekend. Can you just off the top of your head list the order please. I am hoping the lights, braces etc stay, just remove the 7mm bolts. Are any hidden? What is the key to getting it lined back up? TIA.

Well, removed mine Sat to install tow hook. Not really that bad. Fascia got hung on the bottom where it wraps around skid bar. Didn't see way around it other that bending it which cracked the paint, but it is underneath anyway. It did slip out of my hands a started a small crack in the corner where the top fender part meets the front part. Going to painting section to see how to stop paint crack from spreading. Car is a track car so front is nicked to death anyway. I might have to work on getting seams to smooth out some. One side is good, and one is not.
BTW, someone might want to post how to get around the lower part that wraps around the skid bar.
