Default JBA Header Install

Just purchased a set of JBA long tube headers for my 02 C5. I have read some of the DIY longtube installs but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I Did not see any posts of people running the JBA longtube setup, is there a reason for this? Also, what kind of gains can I expect from the headers? Mods are simple as follows: Zip tie mod with K&N, Smooth bellow coupler, Ported TB, Flowmaster Mufflers, 165 T-stat. Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think that there's no discussion of JBA LT's, because they used to make only shorty headers for the C5. I might be wrong about that, but I don't know of any other reasons. Maybe they're mild steel, and most guys want SS? Lots of us get our info from the forums, and go with whatever seems the most popular/best performing/cheapest/in-stock/not made in China? You might want to get a dyno tune after your header install. It will maximize your gains for your mods so far.

I AGREE!!! Have never heard of JBA long tubes or seen anyone else on the forum install them. Almost any header install will get you 30-35 more HP

I just looked them up: http://shopping.yahoo.com/750822297-...-c5-z06-01-04/

There almost $800 for JUST the headers! Thats pretty expensive. If your going to pay that much, Recommend that you go the rest of the route and get a complete set from the more C5/C6 market header manufactures. You can also look in to the XS Power brand. They are a LOT less and great quality.

When you add MODs, Your fuel efficiency may drop a few MPG as the engine will be richer and the LTFTs will go more positive.

A Mail Order tune CAN NOT effectively adjust your MAF tables and LTFTs and WOT AFRs. YES, a real live in the shop tune will make the Mod a lot more efficient. Your tuner should adjust those values either on the dyno OR better yet, on the road with a wide band.

WOW! What a DEAL! Cant beat that with a big STICK!

A mail order tune does change a lot of the PCM tables. Especially if you have an automatic Tranny.

There NO WAY that you can accurately adjust some of the dynamic tables. Most mail order tunes are an AVERAGE of what works best on a specific engine tranny. The tuner can find a previously tuned file with mods close or even exactly as what you have. Those PCM updates are re flashed to your PCM. They will be close but, not exact.

Close is all I'm looking for at $149....I need the fans to kick on earlier for the 165 t-stat and would like to tune out the rear 02's if possible...do you know if they are still able to do that? What is the best mid pipe to run off of the long tubes within reason. This is my DD so not trying to get too crazy here.

Does anyone know if having a check engine light on because of the lack of converters will change the way the car runs at all or is the light just an indicator?

EcS will tune out the rear 02s. There are no issues with not running those.
