Sound of glass scraping when lowering and raising driver’s window…..
on my '01 coupe. What can be causing this? Not comfortable at the thought of removing door panel for the repair….who would be best suited to do the fix, a Chevy dealer who sells and services many Vettes or an auto glass shop? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Two screws under the handle access panel. Then pull out the door from the bottom carefully, one retainer at a time. Its really easy to open up. Most likely a steel cable is off a pulley or else the cable has a shredded wire in which case you need the whole regulator assembly. No worries, its all easy to access.

I had 3 long scratches in my drivers side window because of it.
I was also told that the weather strip drys out over time and can scratch the glass .....but i find that explanation kind of hard to believe.

I had this same problem in my 04. It is the regulator cable. On mine it was one of the small steel strands that snaped. The sound is this small strand bunching up. it will only get worse till it sticks and will not go up or down. It is not hard to fix.
