electric windows
I have a 2004 convertible that suddenly the passenger window will not go down. There is power to the door as the door locks activate but neither door button for the right door will make it go down. Fuses 30 and 31 are good. I assume taking the door panels off to look for loose wires is next.... is this difficult? I would appreciate any guidance on this... send to my email k4wi@earthlink.net and I would really appreciate the help! Thanks, Courtney Judd

If you want to take off the door panel go to www.vettessentials.com where they have great visual and text instructions. It takes me about 3 minutes but I have done it several times before. One caution, the plastic fastening devices that hold the door panel on are prone to breaking and some smooth and constant pressure should be your guide. Re-installing requires an equal amount of caution and you should make sure the pins are correctly positioned before you try to press the panel back. Good luck!!

Usually we suggest rapping on the edge of the window with your hand while pushing the down button and see if it'll go on its own. Depending on your driving of the car, the passenger windows don't seem to get used as much as the driver's window so the window motor commutator windings get contaminated therefore the motor brushes don't make contact with them.

The motor uses an overload to stop at the top stalled. If it can't build enough torque to lower it before the overload cuts it out. Like said apply down force while holding the button. Slam the door a few good times often gets door power things going again.

Take a look at this. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...uild-pics.html
I removed the motor housing, lubricated the shaft and it worked great after that. No need to remove the whole assembly. Follow the directions in the attached link to remove the door panel. Remove the end of the motor. Pay attention to top vs bottom to install in original orientation. Give it a try before you start replacing parts.

Burning Brakes
Some one posted a window fix by removing a small access cover on the interior panel and shocking the mechanism by putting a screwdriver at or on the exposed mounting screws and then giving it a rap with a hammer. I can't find the post any more.
