You may have read my post about the first time at the track in general disscussion. It may have been placed under the wrong category. I was wondering if you guys, who most have more experience with the c5 than myself, could suggest some things to check before I go further than I may need to.

On my second run at the track, when I went to gun it out of the hole it probably did not even move an inch. It felt like the car wanted to move but it was just slipping too badly. It is a 99' FRC 6-speed. All stock except a catback exhaust and 60,000 miles. It doesn't grind or make aweful noises. It just doesnt move. None of the forward gears work and neither does reverse. I don't know where to begin looking. Clutch, slave cylinder...something more serious. If you guys could throw me a few pointers I appreciate it. Thanks.

Well getting the trans out to fix this ought to get your "shovel" a workout. It's not if but when you'll break something at the track-have your wallet stocked.

Doesn't look like your getting much in the way of helpfull ideas does it, does your clutch feel normal, same foot presure, did you car make any kind of noise when the gears stopped working. it is a major job getting to the clutch, torque tube and trans and rear. If your going to do the work get manuals, if not find a good shop and good luck.

I didn't get a clutch smell and the petal feels the same as always. I am leaning toward the rear end. I am going to pick up the car tomorrow. It is at my buddy's house still. (Shorter tow)

While other possibilities do exist...this is classic output shaft failure, and has already been brought up.

What happens when you try to put it in gear? How about if you try to put it in gear without dis-engaging the clutch? Does the shift linkage still feel like it's connected to something? Any noises?

Its one of 3 output shafts, more than likely its the driverside...LMK if I can help you with anything...

Here's a question: Is output shaft failure (typically) the result of repeated hard use? That would be my guess and that there is a heavy-duty version available.

When you get the car, put it in gear and let out on the clutch. Watch the speedometer. If it moves, then the transmission and output shaft are fine, and you probably broke an output shaft in the differential. If it doesn't move, then you broke the output shaft in the transmission.

I actually twisted off the passenger side axel out at the wheel. I am amazed at this.

I was wondering, Who are some of my go to vendors on here? I am thinking of replacing both even though only one is broken. Should I consider buying beefier ones if I plan on staying close to stock?
