Default Replaced C5 Drivers Window Regulator Today, It Was Easy, Directions Inside

I must say it was waaaaaaaaay easier than I thought, the window regulator/motor part was cheap (Got it Brand New on AMAZON) it came with the "MOTOR" too.

I used these instructions here on Youtube: You can also buy it from them @ www.upanddownmainstreet.com (They have them in stock)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xm1xu-fvZx0

Anyone who needs to do this don't worry it will only take about 45 mins to do, I knocked it out with ease

That's it and it works flawless and man is it smooth

If you have any questions let me know and I can help too 661-406-7516

Thanks,Matt

I may have to use this because my driver's glass has a deep scratch all the way from top to bottom and I think I need to replace the glass (or maybe soon). If I do that, I imagine this will help me. Thanks for the info!!

Old thread but this youtube link and superchevy links are best I found...finally replaced my driver motor and regulator, would no longer go all the way down.

There are a couple of details missing, I would suggest masking tape, mark inside and out with sharpie line to help with alignment. Most important is mark the position of the 2 bolts that hold the glass and the under the door regular bolt position on the old unit.

Als compare the 2 top tip in adjustors on old, set new unit to same adjustment before installing. When removing glass the old rubber lined clamps might be stuck, can take out the 2 top bolts to free from regulator, then gentle twist off of glass when out of car.

Definitely a DIY job if you take your time.

Default Window

Matt,
Was your window loose in the channel? Aside from the motor not
working. I believe my window is a little loose in the channel and if I take the door panel off I should replace the whole mechanism.

Typical problem here is window won't go up or down or the way with crunching sounds up or down. Regulator has a lot of cheap plastic pieces with tend to crack and stop full travel, motor is usually still working.

It your window appears loose- it is not in a channel only the regulator cables and pulleys run in the channel.

I would take off the panel and check the two bolts that hold the rubber clamps to glass, that could get loose. You only need to take off the panel and 2 rain black rain guards at top of door, put the window all the way up, you will see they hold glass. Obviously don't overtighten believe should be something like 89 in/lb torque which is about 7.5 ft/lb so not much....

Lots of good posts here on window R&R plus superchevys link.

If you have any noise or jerkiness with the window I would just replace the whole motor and regulator - got an AC Delco on Amazon for $166, its all one piece.

Would hate to get the window jammed while out at work or in the rain.

No it wasn't - it was all good up till it gave way and the cable snapped fully and stopped working -

Thanks,Matt
