Default electrical leak

MY FRIEND HAS A c5 AND THE DEALER SAYS HE CANNOT IDENTIFY THE SOURCE FOR THE LEAK IN HIS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. HIS BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ARE FINE. WHAT DO YOU THINK, AND WHAT CAN THE DEALER DO TO CHECK?

Biggest culprit has ben the electric seat control---they often just stay powered up even when the key is off---I had the same problem on mine---Had to unplug the pigtail under the drivers seat and battery stayed up--ALSO the ECM draws power ALL the time---On C5's the battery will drain ( mine does) after not driving it for only 2 weeks
Check your stereo too---

I think the convential wisdom is 20mA draw with car off is normal-get an ammeter in series with the battery and see what you have and then start unplugging things.

I've personally seem alternators test good and have a short to the case.

Fairly common problem. Use the search function with key words battery drain, lots of good info. If you are going to use a dealer, find another one. This is not a hard problem to fix but it may take a little time to run it down.
