Default Upgrade to telescope

Has anyone exchanged the steering column from tilt to telescope and tilt? I have a 99 FRC. I love the car but would like to have the steering wheel somewhat closer. The mechanical part of it should be a straightforward or is it? What about sensors? Anything else?

It is a strait forward swap to mount the column. Move your SWPS that is at the bottom of the column from the old to new and being careful to not rotate the column.
I have done this for a friends car. Had to make a control box for the telescopic function, that was also strait forward. Two relays and some connectors. Taped power off of the seat harness where it would be powered from anyway.

Gary: "Move your SWPS that is at the bottom of the column from the old to new and being careful to not rotate the column."

Does that mean to be careful with the SWPS when I remove it from the colum? If not, what do I break? No need to recalibrate anything?

Yes, be careful with the position of the SWPS. Try not to rotate the old or new column when removing and installing.
If the SWPS is spun a re-calibration will be needed.

Thank you very much!
The car is in Norway, the column in Florida. I'll start the project when the world is back to normal

When you get started on the project, let me know if you have any questions.
