Default Power Door Lock Question

2001 Coupe. 24000 miles on it.

Drivers side lock just quit working.

Won't lock "with speed". Also, won't lock with the FOB. Passenger side is OK.

Problem is the darn alarm. If you "lock" the doors, of course, the drivers side doesn't lock. Then, when you open the drivers door, the alarm goes off.

PITA.

SO...I can hear the solenoid/motor "click" but the ****/lever does not close.

I'm a much better than average mechanic. Is it worth me taking the door panel off and checking for some mechancial blockage, or should I just "man up" and take it to the dealer?

If this were and "old" Corvette, I'd have it apart in a heartbeat. These new "computer controlled" models don't lend themselves to tinkering, IMHO.

Thoughts?

Chuck

I had similar problem with mine. Ended up being a relay problem in door. There are lots of search info on this problem, they are quite common. I had to pay about $250 to dealer to get it fixed. Do a search and try what has worked for others if you are so inclined. It's a PITA no matter what.

heres the thread for a real easy fix, I took the circuit board to a C.B. radio shop and had them solder the new relays in. Cost me $10 to fix.

WOW.

Thanks for that link. Got nothing to lose by trying it myself.

I bookmarked that thread, and also printed out a lot of it.

Thanks again.

Chuck
