It's soooo small....
I just picked up a few UPF-44 oil filters from my dealer ($33 for three). He said those were the last three he had and he won't be getting any more. Anyway, compared to the PF-52 I used in my '95, this thing is TINY! Am I missing something or wouldn't a larger filter be able to clean more oil before it gets "caked" with sludge? Thanks!

Jeez! If its getting "caked with sludge", then you've got problems that a bigger filter is probably not going to solve! When I dump my oil & change the filter the oil looks as clean as when I put it in. :D :D :D

I didn't mean sludge as in sludge you could actually see or feel. I was simply referring to dirt, acids, and oxidation. I had always changed my oil every 3K on my last Vette's and I'm skeptical about letting the DIC tell me when it's time. I think I'm going to change the oil no later than every 6K no matter how much more life the DIC says the oil has. I have 1,500 miles on the car now and I feel the need to change the oil! Anyway, I guess what everybody's saying is that there is no correlation between size and utility. I guess I can go tell the Mrs. that size doesn't matter! :D

Yes, I didn't get the best deal on the filters but they had them, I wanted them, so that was that. I know Fitchner Chevrolet has them for $9/each plus shipping. So if shipping is a buck, then that's $10 each. I paid $11 each. Not the end of the world.

10K miles!!! Not a good idea! Maybe if you only drove on the highway and like an old lady. It depends on you driving habits, outside temps, ability of your air filter to keep out the junk, and fuel cleanliness. Please tell me you don't wait 10K miles to change your oil on your C5. :nono: :nono: :nono: :smash:
