, as I said in my first thread

Wrap your dampener loosley in HD in foil Heat it up to 250 to 275 degrees Fairinheight for approx 30 to 45 monutes. No more than that. Your front seat can handle a temp about 100 degrees more than that without distorting. This will ease your cranking and it will only have a few turns to go. 240lbs tq is no easy feat bu with the heat help shouldent be to har at all. Cant wait to hear a video after the work is done.

Ok, last night I did remove the timing cover and found out I could not longer turn the crank by hand, so time to make another tool.

With the oil pump out of the way

With the pump out, new parts to make tools. Here is the new crank turning tool, made with the rotor of the old oil pump rotor.

Fits like a glove

Gears and chain out of the way, the chain had a lot of slack on it

Water pump bolts in

Cam out

What timing set are you going to use?
I've had great luck with Cloyes hex-adjust (4 of my cam installs to be exact)

maybe it's the angle but is that chain tight? it just looks like it has some slack.

Great thread!

Yes is the new LS2 chain and it does have some slack, but not as much as the old LS1 chain that it replaced.

Curious if you used Loctite on the cam sprocket bolts? A few guys had them back out and there have been some cases of them backing out from the factory build.

The garage has been very cold at night (below 30) so my project is on hold.

I also have a very bad cold, so no more work until it warms up a bit.

Great job with the thread and pics. Thanks for sharing those.

Personally, I'd love to see a gear-driven retrofit kit for these engines.
