Could the burr that is circled in red cause the pump seal not to seal properly resulting in trans fluid leaking out?

Torque converter explode?
That seal is shot... pull it and install a new seal, you can get the seal and helix retainer for like $10 online.
The pump to trans case oring seal is also a leak point.

Curious what caused that though, might be worth it to pull the pump to inspect the rotor/vanes/slide for damage. If you pull it, be sure to order a new trans case to pump oring and new pump cover to case gasket.

There is no seal in the pic. It had already been removed. The removal method, which involved a flat blade screw driver and a hammer, is what caused what you see above circled in red. The question now is, would that 'scar' cause the seal not to mate well enough to seal?

Just clean it really well with alcohol and fill it with some JB Weld Two Part epoxy and sand form it to the correct shape. The stuff is TOUGH and will solve your DENT issue.

There is also something called PC-7 that also works wonders. Its a little thicker than JB Weld
