Default I want the 4X4 look

Well just kidding, but my car (02 coupe) was lowered by previous owner, it sits exactly 1 inch lower than my buddies stock 02. I like the look but the scrapping and rough ride on anything but pure smooth roads in just too much. Note: Pa. does not have any smooth roads! Anyway I have done searches to find out how to raise and it seems pretty straight forward except I don't know how to determine when I am at the stock height. Thread counts, measurements, whatever would sure be helpful. Thanks.

Try to adjusting about 1/2" at the bolts and see where you end up. That should put you close though.

count the threads on your buddies stock '02, should be about the same. if you know someone else with a vette that is stock count theirs and compare it to the count on your buddies also.

Go get a lift kit and a pair of side steps, and a whiplash antenna with a pair of curb finders--send us a pic-

If you want to raise it 1", then just adjust the bolts so that the fronts are 1" farther in and the rears are 1" farther sticking out...but 1" is a lot and will give you a huge fender gap...maybe try 1/2" first and don't forget, it takes a little while for the springs to settle again if you raise it up to do the work. To OP I agree about the PA roads, even the Casey Hwy is bumpy in my lowered Z06.

I live just across the Delaware River in NJ across from Milford and I do alot of driving in PA. My Z is lowered the max on stock bolts and cut front bushings. I have no problems with the roads. They are fairly similar to NJ, except for the bumps they put in the center lines on PA roads which keep you from cutting the apexes on twisty roads. The first thing you might want to do is check what shocks are on your car before raising it back up. If they are the stock shocks, which I suspect they probably are, that's probably your ride problems. They aren't designed to work with lowered suspensions. They are most likely blown out causing you the rough ride. Instead, get a set of Bilstein Sport shocks which will perfectly complement the lowering and then you'll be able to enjoy the handling benefits of the lowered ride height. Plus you'll avoid the 4x4 look.

I am not getting old, I am old! Ha Ha. Car is very stock with 10.000 mles. Only mods are shifter, GHL Bullet exhaust (still too quiet), and air clearner and of course the lowering. They are stock shocks and I am sure you are right about switching them. I am just not crazy about the lowered look that much and I live on the side of a cliff with lots of uneven road gradings which scape constantly. Even getting into my garage scrapes all the time. Thanks for the ideas, all good ones and none of them ones I thought of. See I am old, but only in years not growing up.

I can't imagine 1" causing all the problems that you describe.

Imagine, it's easy if you try. Steep mountainous area, deep variations from street to driveway, etc., frame one inch lower than stock on an already low frame, not too hard to comprehend. And anyway, I don't like it the way it is, just wanted some advice, and got it from some nice guys. Thanks.
