Bill Curlee's Zo6 if running!!!!
Well, I pulled the damn car up the driveway with the jeep, and it started and is running, hopefully there is no real engine damage as we had thought.
Now if he can just get the starter welded back on the block, maybe he will have his own vette to drive until the snow blows I don't like sharing mine - even though I do have 2.
Now if I can keep him off this forum long enough to finish up the car I will be grateful. So now I need to go disengage his internet connection , and disable his cell phone so on one can call with problems.
Would you guys help me out on this - Bill needs to diagnose his vette problems and lay low on helping everyone else out for a while.
Thanks,
Cheryl

Dang,
I just hope he gets it running or we're all screwed . . . just kidding. Bill has bent over backwards to help everyone on the forum. I remember the very first help I got off one of his posts back in 2004, it was the wierd and dreaded grounding problem . . . had corrosion on two of my ground points and after cleaning IAW his procedures, I was up and everything was running after the first crank up. What a screwy problem, it makes everything screw up if its electrical. Anyway, I'm with the lady in letting him take care of things at home. Behind every great man, there's a great lady. No help needed here.

Cheryl,
You sound frustrated, but know this; Bill has an army of forum members ready to help him. Not just those he has helped but all those that have learned so much from him. Just say the word and they will be there for him. I would be willing to bet people would fly in from all over. He is one of the most well liked and respected people we have. I hope all goes well with the Z.

I let Bill fill in the gaps if he ever figures out what I did to his computer
Actually it was back in March/April, he got back from a trip to Guam, went to start the car and the starter broke off the block. He was really pissed off, so he let it sit for a while deciding what to do. Then one day we checked the engine, and found coolant in #1 cylinder - not good - well even more depressed, he just blew it off for a while. Of course just prior to all this, he bought a new clutch and tranny to install. I teased him that he just was looking to get a forged lower end and this was how he decided to go about convincing me that he needed one.
Well, after many months of nagging, he finally got his butt in gear and put the engine back together - he had removed the intake and a few other things - and I pulled it up the driveway with the jeep to help pop start it (no starter), and the thing ran - no noises either - the mystery of the coolant still remains so. Well, he let it warm up, then took it for a drive (reminded him not to stall it) and he said it ran beautifully.
Now he is going to pull the engine, tranny, and torque tube, get the starter welded back in place, change the clutch and tranny, replace the bushings for the torque tube, and what ever else he says "needs" to be done. I just hope the thing is back on the road by early spring!
Thanks for all the offers of help, but I just never know when he will be home working on the thing - rumors flying about an overseas trip and also a trip to San Diego in a few weeks - unfortunately he has to help keep the US Submarine Force up and running Never enough hours in a day.

Not to worry - I think he likes fixing everyone's cars but his own. Too bad I don't have a C5, I could post on the tech section and get help with my car from him!! He doesn't go to the C3 or C6 sections too much, so no luck with that

OK. So it was the same problem I had. Starter popped out of the block. Had to get mine welded back up. A known issue with this block. Didn't know it, but mine has been welded up before, so this is the second time. Didn't look like they did a good job the first time around welding it up. Looks better now. Hopefully will hold this time.
Hope all goes well with his getting welded back up.
