2002 Gixxer 1000 and R1 tag team vs 2000 C5
Cruising around yesterday I see 2 bikes with full leathers so I immediately flip a u-turn and follow in traffic they finally turn off the busy street and pull into a parking lot, turns out 1 is a 2002 GSXR 1000 and the other a 2002 R1,beautiful bikes! When I asked them to race they were smiling and ready to race in like 5 seconds we all 3 went from about a 30 roll me in the middle and the 2 bikes wheelying on each side with the Gixxer pulling out about a car or 2 and me and the R1 pretty close but I could tell I was pulling in the Gixxer. We stopped after the first run and they complemented me and couldnt believe my car was hanging.I asked them to run again and turned it up (not having race gas I was a bit worried but I needed some more ponies)a notch and beat the R1 by a few cars and the Gixxer by 1/2 to 1.
The bike guys were very cool and complimented me on the car.
My first real race since I got the car back on Thursday and I am more than happy with my car!
Thanks LPE for going above and beyond my wildest expectations!

Its a 6 spd LPE Twin Turbo 650 w boost controller
we made 3 passes on street tires and 1 pass on et streets
it went 11.5 @ 139 on the true street tires and 10.52 @ 137 on
the ets on the middle boost setting in 77 degree weather.
The suspension and rear end is stock so we didnt push it too hard off the line (1.64 short time) on the ets and 2.14 60' on the street tires.

Even with the mods you have I think that anyone who knows how to ride those bikes would still beat up on you .These bikes will do mid 10s or better stock. I would have to go look up these rides for extra 1/4 mile #

No offense, but I've seen guys pull a GSX 1000R into the 9s in full stock street trim. So he probably wasn't trying too hard. The Yamaha R1 (While better looking IMOHO) isn't as fast as the Gixxer.
Here is a Video of a Suzuki Hayabusa which is only Marginally faster than the Gixxer. Gives a good ideas of what these bikes are capable of.

Yeh Adam they probably were not trying to hard since they were wearing full leathers and we just raced the first time and it was within a car link and the the second time I won by almost a car and was pulling him!,and actually the GSXR 1000 has done 9.70s with a pro rider and the front strapped.
I have a ZX12R that will do 9.80s stock.
The higher the mph the better chance I have against a stock bike.
A LPE TT with less power than mine was clocked @ 226mph on radar.

Adam I know of a local Supra that pulled a Hayabusa on the higway. I wouldn't doubt a TT C5 would pull the bike on a rolling start. Bikes don't have the torque, and wind resistance is against them on a rolling start. Yes the Hayabusa was trying the run was arranged. Not slamming you Adam just not agreeing.

Who cares if the bikes run 9.70s at the 1/4 mile. He clearly stated that it was a street race from about 30mph. All bets are off between bikes and high power cars when it is a street race situation. The 139mph trap speed is what needs to be compared in this situation and not the ET. Those bikes can run in the 140s, so this would have been an extremely close race.
Excellent fun and the LPE TT 650 has got be awesome to drive!!! Enjoy!!!

That must've felt awesome to run toe to toe with a Gixxer 1000. They are seriously fast machines, and obviously so it your TT! Great run!

Re: ... (Patches)
Congrats to a great encounter. It's always a nice feeling to run with some sportbikes and I don't think anybody was laying back at all...that type of person doesn't own a sportbike. And they aren't easily suprised...which you did very well :D.., but no matter what the outcome they are always cool after the fun.
I was wondering how you could hang way down from a second gear roll-on....until I noticed your setup :D All that power and it comes in a lot smoother compared to nitrous...Sick! :D

Re: ... (C5Cemo)
congrats.
When u are racing on the street you need to consider hp, wheel spin, gear. It all depends if you are in your powerband or not. So it's believable.

Re: ... (iburke)
Lets see now GSXr 1000 450 lb./150 rwhp 3 lb. per hp.
C5 3200 lb./3 lb. per hp that's 1066 rwhp impressive.

If you think lb/hp is all that matters, then you're obviously not really into racing.

Re: ... (akw408)
Sorry but I have to agree, lb/hp is everything. I love our vettes but my grandmother could pull 10's on a Gix 1K. If you beat him thats great but my money says he didn't have the ***** to open her up, also full leathers doesn't mean that he knows how to ride.

Re: ... (BIG99)
Some of the guys above are correct. The bikes are very strong down low, but don't pull as hard up top as you might suspect. Also, they are not THAT easy to ride to the times/speeds in the magazines. I used to roadrace motorcycles, and had very fast bikes in the early - mid 1980's. I know the new ones are much faster, but you are really underestimating how the professional riders get off the line to turn those times. It takes some serious skill. The guy above must have a hell of a grandmother.
