Default Speed Inc vs. ECS for a tune

Long story short

Speed inc is 45 min from me and I can drive there and get a base tune pretty stock car 6 speed

or should I go through the hassle of removing the ecu which im not comfortable with, breaking stuff etc and mail it in to ecs for a tune

since I dont have H,C etc... will a speed inc tune suffice or should I go with ecs hear allot of good stuff about them.

A dyno tune is always better. ECS will tell you that as well.

If you're upgrading soon, why not just wait?

I can't speak for Speed Inc., but I can guarantee that if you get the ecu to ECS your tune will be improved, car will perform better and so will your gas mileage. Of course a dyno tune is better.

Talk to Doug, Chris or Mike @ ECS. They'll be straight up with you and give good advice.

ECS is a good company, but I'd recommend getting the dyno tune.

Price the same, I'd go with ECS just because of the reputation. I'm not saying Speed inc isn't good, personally just haven't heard of them

If it were me I'd contact Doug at ECS and ask him about the Speed Inc tune. If your only 45 min. away I'd bet, if Doug feels good about it Doug will send you right to them. If not he'll suggest sending it to him. That's just the way Doug works and won't steer you wrong. ..."pear"

I can only speak for our own tunes, and the experience we have doing them. We have had nothing but great reviews form our mail order tunes, but I will always agree that a logged street & dyno tune is always the best way to go, as long as you have a competent tuner working for you.

If you plan on only doing a mail order style tune from either shop, do some searches on how happy the customers are, what the cars have picked up in the quarter mile etc. Again I cannot speak for the others, but I think you will find nothing but favorable results from our work.

Thank you for inquiring.

Since Speed inc is close to you, then look at them as having local support goes a long if you encounter problems.

Also Speed inc knows what they are doing to.

I am a fan of ECS and have spent a lot of money with them, but for tuning you are better off getting a dyno tune. Speed Inc being local is a bonus. Plus it is always good to know your local shops in case you need help down the road. It is hard to trouble shoot over the phone.

Speed Inc is certainly competent. You won't go wrong there.

However......ECS is the best. Doug has tuned more high performance corvettes than probably anyone else on the planet - with measured performance results.

One customer even got several different tunes from vendors at Carlisle and dyno'd after each tune. ECS was the best.

Pulling a PCM is not a big deal. I'd go with ECS hands down.

Oh if dyno tuning isn't an option, just go with ECS.

Keep in mind their prices already include return shipping 3-day UPS.

You can ship USPS 3-day to ECS for like $10.

I am the tuner at Speed Inc. Our base file would include scanning the car and road testing it to verify shift points and make sure everything else is working correctly.

If you have any questions you can call or email me. 847-891-0767 jim@speedinc.com
