C5 Corvette has an A.I.R. System.
The A.I.R. air pump is under the drivers side head light area The OEM air box has a hole in it for the fresh air inlet pipe for the A.I.R air pump .
Thats where the A.I.R intake hose connects to to get fresh clean air on the vararam. If you dont have that pump TUNED OUT and removed, you can simply plug that hole. If you still have the pump, your missing the fresh air intake hose and crap is being pumped into the exhaust system.

Thanks for the information. I really appreciate the help and guidance, as a 1st time corvette owner. The prior owner thought he know more, so he trashed the original front end and made his own fresh air intake system. In doing so, he apparently placed his A.I.R. intake behind the bumper cover and he put on a one-way valve.
Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.

Drifting
I just bought a Vararam and matching air bridge. From what I have read, they have fixed a lot of the quality issues they had with the latest version. We shall see....
