HELP- Wet passenger floorboard ????
need a little help here.
have a 02 corvette that is my wife's daily driver, bought it at the beginning of the summer.
here is the problem, twice now, she has gotten home and the carpet on the passenger side floorboard has been soaking wet. the second time worse that the first, I'm talking almost ponding.
both occasions it rained pretty heavily so my thoughts were the window or windshield was leaking. I inspected the car fairly well right when shet got home the second day it happened but couldn't find any leaks (I never ran water over the windshield while looking though). so I kinda ruled that out.
it's kinda wierd though because just the carpet on the floorboard is wet, not the carpet that turns vertical (either side or near the firewall). so that made me think that the water could be coming from the bottom some how, maybe off of the tire as it is driven down the wet roads. but, I can't seem to located any holes or entry point on the bottom of the car.
so I got to talking to a few people and they suggested that the condensation hose may be plugged up or something and causing it to leak back into the car. I am trying to get it over to a friends house that has a car lift so I can pull the inner fender off and inspect that hose. but I really don't wanna go barking up the wrong tree if that isn't the problem.
I am also not sure if it only happens when it rains, I checked it a couple of days after the second occurance and the carpet seemed dry but the mat underneath was still wet. now it could be that it just hadn't dried all the way or that it was still getting wet, not sure.
anyway, anyone had this problemt before? what was the solution?

The most likely cause is the A/C drain hose is plugged. You do not have to remove any body parts to inspect it.
It is a small 90 degree hose that comes out of the firewall behind the right cylinder head.
There are pictures of the hose and the location if you do a search on the forum.
If the carpet was wet, better check to make sure the BCM under the passenger floor is not also wet or you will be having all kinds of electrical problems.

IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pull the seat and get that carpet out to properly dry!!!!! If you dont several things will happen!
1. The BCM under the toe board will corrode and cause all sorts of electrical issues. Eventually it will die and that expensive!
2. The carpet and jute underlayment will mildew and STINK! It will also cause mold to start forming on the rest od the leather.
3. Removing the carpet will allow you to positively identify where the water is leaking in from. There are several known leak paths and water entry points and any one of them could be the issue.
In the STICKY section I have a post on LEAKS. Take a look at it and that will help you figure things out.
I agree ,,You most likley have a clogged HVAC condensate drain fitting. That would be the very first thing that I would check,

Just in case, also pay attention to the door seal/weatherstrip to make sure something didn't get crimped or whatever. Door seals do need to be replaced when they get older. The C-5 window seals aren't that great in my opinion. I had problems with my '99's passenger door seal leaking at the forward base of the window where it meets the door.

I just had this happen earlier this summer. PITA!! until I found out that is what it was. I drove on a long trip and when I stopped realized the floorboard was soaked. It jacked with all kinds of stuff. The car stereo wouldn't shut off...it was burning hot and the car wouldn't start. I thought for sure the BCM was f'd. I ended up stranded overnight. I left it overnight and luckily by the next day it had dried out and everything was fine.
I took it to a Cheverolet Dealership...they couldn't find anything wrong. Whatever. I won't name any names, but I took it to a certain Dallas area "Corvette Specialty Shop". I asked if something could be stopped up and they said no and it was a leak and they would charge me almost $1000 in labor to pull out the dash and "look around" to find the problem.
Thanks to all the Corvette experts on the forum I found out it was in fact a stopped up drain tube and it cost $0 to fix it.

While Im thinking about it,,,,its a VERY good idea to remove the passengers side carpet and properly dry it out. if it stays wet very long, it will start to mildew and stink. The dampnes will also cause the BCM and fuse box to corrode, Read that as $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Ask me how I know!

If water has sat under the carpet for a long period of time to cause the musky mildew smell. After you pull the carpet, what are you guys using to clean up the floorpans to kill the mold/mildew? Lysol? I did see some organic cleaner at Lowes that is supposed to kill mildew/mold and kill odor causing bacteria. Don't know if that is any better than Lysol or something else.

Melting Slicks
I had a wet pass. side carpet - but only towards the rear under the seat - turned out to be a small leak where the top and pass. window and windshield header come together - dripped onto carpet between the seat & door and ran towards the back. I dried out the carpet and removed/reinstalled the top and it has not happened again.

Take the top off and look at the seals where the side of the top meets the back halo seal. The back halo seal has a notch in it where the side seal is supposed to go into. this area is often damaged if the top was removed a fair bit. If not damaged, it's also possible the side seal isn't positioned in the halo seal properly.
