Can the cycle time to Competition mode be shortened?
I have a 2000 C5. I was wondering if the cycle time to Comp Mode can be shortened from 5 seconds to about one second, or even less. Anyone know? Thanks.

It really won't. My understanding is that Laptrax no longer even manufactures the unit to accomplish placing the car in Competition mode upon startup. Even with that unit, five seconds was still the wait time. I've got to believe that the wait time can be shortened. I suspect it's there so a person couldn't turn off traction control by mistake.

The engineers wised up starting in the 2001 model year as far as being able to turn on Competition Mode “on the fly”.

No, the irony is you CAN turn off TC & AH at the instant the button is pushed – but you must wait 5-seconds (seems like 15-seconds while you’re holding it down) to engage Comp. Mode.

Okay, smart guy , the reason I posted this is I thought it would be nice to just be able to hit the button and put the car in Competitive Driving mode. I forgot that just hitting the botton quickly disables everything. I just thought if the computer timeout could be modified, say to one second, or so, both Traction Control and Active Handling could still be disabled, when desired, by a quick push of the button, or, the car placed in Competitive Driving by holding the button for a second, or so. It would be nice not to have to wait much for the timeout, such as at a stopsign, etc. Although, for Generation 1 Active Handling, the button can be pushed while the car is moving and the system will go into Competitive Driving if you are stopped by the end of the timeout. I nearly always drive in Competitive Driving anyway, but was wondering if any gurus knew of a way to change the cycle time....just more converient.

Yeah, im glad to have one that can be changed while moving(only if im moving slow). It would be nice if we just had a switch like an A/C button to whatever "mode" you desire and u could just leave it how u want it for the next time u drive.

Generation 1 Active Handling was an option from late 1998 through 2000. Generation 2 Active Handling became standard fare in 2001. Active Handling is required for Competitive Driving mode...Traction Control is turned off and Active Handling remains on.
