Default ECBM went out...and so did the steering?

I was driving it while it was getting rebuilt, and the steering was way more tight. but I had power steering still and pressure in the resivior....any relation to the two/?

If your steering wheel position sensor goes out, it will disable ABS/TC, although in your case you have the EBCM out. Pull the dic codes and see what is happening, rather then guessing

Without the EBCM you should not notice any difference in low speed (parking lot) steering. However, as speed increases you should notice the steering effort no longer increases. The EBCM sends a voltage to the magnasteer unit that tells the magnasteer unit to increase steering (reduce boost) effort as speed increases. Without the EBCM the boost stays at maximum.
