Torque Tube rebuild parts, and disassembly / reassembly
Hey guys, I bought a new TT out of an '02 Z06 for my 99 FRC. The TT has 17K miles on it, so it should be fine, but I want to make sure before I put it in. Where can I buy the necessary bearings, and I also want GM couplers. I have heard bad things about the quality of the BMW couplers, so I want to stay away from those. Also, do I need to get this assembly balanced? Thanks!

I probably can. I live in the Motor City, I can get/find anything here! Part of me thinks I am wasting my time taking this thing apart, the other part of me says "won't you be pissed if you get it in, and its messed up?"

Just remove snap ring and tap out from the front. Probably take you about an hour to do.
I know I would check it.

Doesn't take much to get it apart. Really easy at any rate and I'm sure it will be just fine but at least you will know what you have.
I bought a set of snap ring pliers from Harbor Freight ($20)and they worked perfect.

Wheres the BEST PLACE to purchase an Aluminum coupler from???
While I have mine apart to change the clutch, I replacing the bushings and figured that I would go ahead and install an aluminum rear bushing.
Where have you purchased an aluminum bushing at a fair price?

Thanks guys!
I think I already have a set of snap ring pliers.
That breathless performance piece looks like a good value if its a rubber coupler AND an aluminum coupler for $130...

However, I question its quality at that price.
Here is the LG one.

I want a FACTORY rubber one for the front, or one stronger than factory. All I know is I don't want aluminum front and rear.
I got mine from Ecklers years ago.

Guys who are running a rubber coupler in the front with an aluminum one in the rear... How much of an increase in NVH did you experience? Thanks!

Some wobble is normal. It has some play because of imperfections in the rubber casting I am sure. Mine had more out of round than I would have liked but has had no problems at all.
FWIW, I bought the Corvette Central couplers (10MM) and they WERE the BMW ones Even had a Guibo sticker/part number for BMW right on the bag. I don't think I'd trust it if I had a blower or twin turbos but works for a stocker. Bearings should be fine man, these were built to last. There was a post some time back that someone had all the bearings sized and listed by size number. Need to be double sealed I think (not into bearings that deeply but I think that means both sides have a watertight seal). Even posted a link to Amazon.com to get them!!! Yes they were substantially cheaper. Guess its what you decide is more valuable to you....your time to look it up or your money. Sometimes convenience of an all-in-one kit is worth the price, other times not.
