Easier on the car or off.

Had mine done on the car. Too much of a hassle taking off.

Paint it off. But then, it may be hard to color match so blending into the rest of the front end is likely a good idea.

Take it off, only takes 30 minutes and a few hand tools.

You're going to have to blend the whole front clip then clear coat it so why bother taking it off? I did mine on the car. You'll be shocked at the color variance so prepare to blend!

Mostly because it's not hard to do and because if you don't, you'll have a "one piece" front end with the bumper cleared to the fenders.

If you're going for the showroom original show-car look, take it off.

Actually I have it off the car right now. And it is a big flimsy piece. I had to sand and repair some deap scratches in it. And it is hard to work with on a bench. I also don't have something large enough to hold it while I spray. I would also be afraid of scratching it as I put it on.

As for molding it in with clear, I would not bolt it up all the way and let there be a 1/4 inch between the fender and bumper.

If you choose to paint it off the car a set of fender stands will stabilize it well enough to do the paint work.

You could bend some 3/4" electrical conduit and attach pipe insulation on the top as a cushion. That's what I will be using when I paint mine. Unless I go with a candy or pearl color then I have to have the car together.

That sounds like a good plan. Bolt it partially on but with that gap and mask everything off and paint it. Then, finish putting it together.

I did mine in the fall. The car is pewter. It doesn't match. It's close enough I'll drive it for now. The back doesn't really match either and the car has enough paint damage if I was looking to blend I wouldn't stop until the whole car was painted so it'll stay like it is for now.
