Brake caliber bolt size ??
I need to remove my brake calibers to paint my rusty rotor hats. Does anybody know what size the bolts are that mount them to brackets , are they both the same front and rear. If it is bigger than 18mm I will need to buy new wrenches.
Thanks

I just did the rears on my '01, I used a 13/16 (pretty sure) 12 point, it fit perfectly, however I did use a 16mm wrench and a 15mm socket to remove the pad bracket. Don't forget to loosen the bleeder (10mm) before removing the caliper bracket so you can remove pressure if you change pads while "I might as well do this since I'm in here"

To the OP,
I'm a bit confused on what bolts exactly you are referring to, so I'll throw in my answers for both sets, since I had them all removed three days ago.
Now. The calipers are attached TO THE BRACKETS by two 15mm bolts with blue loctite. So, you'll need a 15mm to move those. You will ALSO need an 18mm open-end wrench, because when you go to turn the 15mm bolt, the female end rotates with it. an 18mm wrench is used to hold the female end still while the 15mm wrench removes the bolt. These two wrenches will let you remove the calipers completely (except for the brake hose, which if you want to remove, requires 13mm). Note that removing the caliper will not remove the bracket; if you plan to take the rotors off, you will need to remove the bracket also. These wrench sizes worked on all four corners for me.
Now, if you want to remove the BRACKETS themselves, you'll need a monster forearm and a 21mm wrench. Those two bolts are HARD to remove, and they also have red loctite. They are set at 125 ft/lbs if I recall.
Hope that helped some!
