Default Update: Observations with AC Delco Ceramic Brake Pads

Well, I've had my AC Delco Ceramic Wave II brake pads for a week now, and feel I can give a better opinion on them. First, NO DUST! It's great, I drove the car 70 miles today, including some stop and go traffic, and a few heavy brakes from over 100mph, and my rims look like I just washed them! Amazing! Also, no noise at all. I was warned I might get a little noise from ceramic pads, buy they've been silent so far. The stopping power is excellent as well, they feel just as good, if not a little better than stock. I did have my rotors turned, and my fluid flushed with the pad install, so my observations of braking power may be a little thrown off by that. But, I don't remember the car ever stopping this good. I did a full power stop from 70mph-0, and I almost got sucked right out of my seat! I'd say at least as good as stock pads.

Overall, if you're looking for a good street brake pad, I can't see any reason not to go with ceramic. They were only a little more expensive than regular pads, I think around $160 total for front/back from Fichtner Chevrolet. You get great braking, no dust, and no noise. I guess you could say I'm happy with them. :D

Hi Bill,

Pads sound great! Can you give us front and rear part numbers from your invoice?

Thanks

I agree 100%. They are great. We have had them on our 1998 for about 15,000 miles. Little dust, easier to remove, quiet, better brakes!

Hard to beat these benefits.

Did you try multiple stops from high seed to less than 10MPH in rapid succession?
After about 3 hard stops my Raybestos Ceramics fade badly. I'm curious to see if the GM's are better.

Are they Rotor-friendly? Many pads kill slotted/drilled rotors. :(

I did 3 hard stops in a row from 60mph to about 20mph, and brakes didn't seem to fade at all. I'll try some more tomorrow if I get a chance, and see how many it takes to produce any fade.

I haven't had them long enough to really say, but I would imagine they are. I can't remeber anybody mentioning any problems with these pads damaging their rotors.
