Love the 6 speed, although it tends to be a little notchy when cold on 3rd gear upshifts. To me the C5 and C6 will put me to sleep if it was an automatic.

My C5 6 speed is a blast to drive. It seems like you have much more control over the car than when it has an auto trans. I think the 6sp gets a MPG or 2 better that the auto too.
Drove an identical car to mine except that one was an automatic. It felt underpowered, lifeless.
Now I have not driven a C6 auto with the paddle shifters yet. Best of both worlds?

i dont think i could ever go back to an automatic car. i had an automatic 94 z28 cuz i wanted it to be just a drive, a year or two later it was cammed and then stroked not long after. i wish anything it would of been a manual. got my 01 z06 with six speed and could probably never go back. so much fun. more control, gear banging, its a drivers car... automatic is consistent at the track but a 6speed shows if ur a good driver or not

I couldn't buy an automatic, just my opinion but I think all Vettes should be manual tranny! I love having a manual. Tuff to get into reverse sometimes though.

Personally, I think its the best purchase I have ever made!! (and most expensive, haha) .... but as far as the shifting, very smooth....and I look at it this way...Its a CORVETTE, its all about having fun, and part of the fun is being able to run through the gears! Personally think ALL vettes should be 6'ers

I love my 6 speed. Shifts great. I test drove an auto and it felt sluggish to me. Also, the manual transmission cars have 15 more foot pounds of torque. 375 vs 360.

149, 458 miles on my original clutch/tranny. I love it. Have to hold her in place on reverse or it pops out. But no big deal and it pulls like hell!!!!!
To be fair, i was at LG Motorsports in 2007 and a guy with just an intake/exhaust (like me) and had HIS SHIFT POINTS CHANGED!!! HOLY CRAP IT WAS BADASS!!!! So im saying the auto can be a real beast with just the shift points firmed up.
I love my stick (less people want to drive it when they find that out, its scares em LOL)

I have had several of each, even that POS with the electronic OD.I'm 57 and swore I would never buy a standard again. I lied !! My ZO6 is a blast,What a Corvette should feel like. I am in charge with a 6 spd. where as I feel like a passenger with an auto.
Nothing quite as embarrasing as the 3 to 2 shift when you are grabbing for 4 ,but that is this old racehorse loosing his edge !

I had an 87 vert auto for many years, when I was looking for a C5 I also wanted an Auto, but I found a 6 speed that I really liked and I am not sorry I bought it. Love working thru the gears. Really a lot of fun, no matter the traffic situation.

The 6 speed in my Z is the reason it's fun. Heal-toe downshifts are the best part. I was stuck for 4 hours in stop and go traffic all the way from LA to San Diego once. After about 3 hours I had to start using my right foot on the clutch, and just let it out slowly without the gas to engage the car. I know it's not good, but I just couldn't take it anymore with my left leg lol. I still wouldn't have taken an auto.

The manual is really tame. Soft clutch. Not much different than my wife's G35.
And much stronger than the auto. If I was going C6 I would go with the A6 but for the C5 I wouldn't have anything but the 6 speed.

I love the shifting and the way the car feels, but the gas pedal is too close to be comfortable with where they put the clutch.
I would have liked it a lot more if the clutch was closer, and the gas was farther away......so the pedals are equal distance. Then I would adjust the seat for comfort.

Just what i was thinking! It's kinda scary how many automatics you have for a car that i think should only be sold as a manual
