turn signals not working
I have time when my turn signals just stop working. then the next time i try them they work fine. Where is the best place to start looking?

Replace your 4 way flasher.
That is generally the problem. It you can get the turn signal to stop working, jiggle the flasher switch and see if they come on. Don't push it in, just jiggle.

Two most common reasons for them to fail are:
EMERGENCY FLASHER switch is dirty. Press and release it 10-15 times and see if that helps. Sooner or later that wont resolve it any more and you will need to replace it.
OR
The multifunction switch is KNOWN to cause this type of issues. The contacts inside get dirty and heat up. When they heat up the contact tension relaxes and sooner or later the switch fails.
Theres a very good post on rebuilding your own switch. Check it out.
The C5 doesn't have a FLASHER RELAY so to speak. There are relays in the BCM that make the lights blink that are not plug and play relays. There circuit board mounted.

I had the exact issue a couple of years ago. The flasher units are less than reliable. If you replace the one you have now, the next one will need replacing AGAIN in the next few years. Richard has designed an excellent bi-pass cabel that runs about $50 and takes 20-30 minutes to install. It WILL fix your turn signals once and for all. Richard produces an excellent produce and stands behind his products 100%. Don't waste your time/money messing around replacing you stock flashing unit, it's a total waste in the long run.
