Check the specs carefully, but as long as they have the + and - tabs already connected to the battery, it is no larger than the CR2477N and it has the same voltage, it should be ok. Did you check with Digi-Key for the battery?

TPS battery replacement
I just did mine as I got new wheels and tires and everything works fine. I just followed the directions. I hope these last as long as the originals. They were over 10 years old and still going.

& I love feedback I'm going to edit the main post a little because today I had replaced the washer because it was leaking. First I put a #9 washer on and then a #8 over the 9 so basically sandwitched them then tightened the sensor...no more leak.

I sent off four to be rebuilt by a none sponsor and after getting them back, mounting and balencing four tires, two didnt work.
It was an expensive mistake and I ended up buying new ones that I still havent had a chance to mount

Finished rebuilding 4 over the weekend. will test them next Saturday. The wheels are out getting powder coated and the Vette is at a friends shop on jack stands. Just followed the video. It was very simple. Thanks.

The magnet is used to close a magnetic reed switch inside the sensor to activate the sensor. The sensor gets activated in two ways. Centrifugal force or the magnet. Once the DIC is in the Tire Sensor program mode, the magnet wakes up the sensor and the RFA transmits the sensor info to the BCM. Install the sensor in the rim and pressurize the tires and program all the sensors. Its that simple.

J 41760 Tire Pressure Sensor Activating Tool (MAGNET)
TPM Learn Mode Description
The Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) system uses the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR), body control module (BCM), driver information center (DIC), 4 radio frequency transmitting pressure sensors, and the serial data circuit to perform the TPM learn mode functions. The sensor learn procedure must be performed after a tire pressure sensor, or RCDLR replacement. Once the learn mode has been enabled, each of the sensors unique identification (Id) codes can be learned into the RCDLR's memory. After the RCDLR has received a sensor transmission, it sends a serial data message to the BCM to sound a horn chirp. This verifies the sensor has transmitted its Id and the RCDLR has received and learned it. The RCDLR must learn each sensor's Id in the proper order to determine sensor location. The first learned Id is assigned to the left front location, the second to right front, the third to right rear, and forth to left rear.
Sensor Functions
Each sensor has am internal magnetic reed switch. When the J 41760 sensor activating tool is held close to the sensor, the reed switch closes, activating the sensor. The sensor responds to a magnetic activation by transmitting in learn mode. When the RCDLR receives a learn mode transmission while in TPM learn mode, it will assign that sensor Id to the location on the vehicle relative to the order in which it was learned.
TPM Learn Mode Cancellation
The RCDLR will cancel the TPM learn mode if the ignition is turned OFF, more than 1 minute has passed and no sensor Ids have been learned, or if more than 5 minutes have passed for the entire procedure. If the learn mode is cancelled before any sensor Ids are learned, the RCDLR will remember all previously stored Ids and their locations. As soon as the RCDLR learns the first sensor Id, all previously stored Ids are erased from the RCDLR's memory.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Press the DIC RESET button in order to clear any warning messages.
Press and release the OPTIONS button until the display is blank.
Press and hold the RESET button for 3 seconds.
Important
If the DIC does not display the TIRE TRAINING message, ensure the TPM option is enabled in the RCDLR. Refer to Scan Tool Output Controls .
Press and release the OPTIONS button until TIRE TRAINING is displayed.
Press and release the RESET button and LEARN L FRONT TIRE is displayed, verifying the mode has been enabled.
Important
If a horn chirp does not sound after 15 seconds, remove then reinstall the sensor activating tool.
Starting at the left front sensor, hold the J 41760 over the valve stem until a horn chirp sounds.
After the horn chirp sounds, proceed as in step 7 for the next 3 sensors in the following order:
Right front
Right rear
Left rear
Turn the ignition OFF to exit the learn mode.

Melting Slicks
As long as the + and - go to the correct solder pad on the sensor, you should be fine.
BTW: Program the sensors before you mount them in the wheels. Mark them in the sequence they were programmed, and mount them in the corresponding wheel. You will save yourself some aggravation if you have a bad sensor. If you are installing used or rebuilt sensors, you definitely want to do this.

Thanks for the programming info. I hit the link to the Digi-key site and attempted to buy 5 batteries, Digi-key #P030-ND (Panasonic # BR-2477A/VAN), they have 0 available and an estimated ship date of 7/16/10. Any ideas???
