LS3 motor fit in 99 C5?
I have a 99 C5 convertible 4sp auto, and have been offered a 2008 LS3 430 hp motor about 3500 miles on it. The motor is complete with ECU and is in running order. The donor was totaled. Will it bolt right in? What mods may/will have to be done? thanks bob

pretty sure the reluctor wheel will have to to be changed to a 24x, since im sure the ecu isn't direct plug in.

You will need to get some adapters for your wiring harness to work with the LS3 sensors and locations, but you should be fine. You will need that LPE piece for the crank sensor, or you can pull the engine apart and replace the reluctor ring. I see you are both metro detroiters, hello from Livonia!
Oh, and if you pass on the LS3 and it is local, let me know where it is!

need an LS1 conversion kit.
24 tooth reluctant wheel. Cam sensor and a few other things
IIRC you do have make a small cut or trim the fire wall slightly back near were the intake sits.

I did all the work myself. Only thing I had to change was the reluctor wheel...which came with the 416 from Scoggin Dickey. the cam position sensor, and crank sensor, and MAP sensor. Also, on the LS3 the knock sensors are on the side of the block now. So you need Knock sensor extensions. All in all its about 300 bucks for all the wires. Your stock knock sensors will fit in the sdie fo the block. Yo umay have to tap the holes in the unused bosses to get them in though. its s 3 min job...no biggie. I have long tubes and they fit fine. Also..your stock motor mounts will work, but the passenger side needs ground down a bit as the LS3 has a boss that sticks out to much. Little grinding work takes that out. Other than that...slam her in there and let it rip
I would suggest though...since you would have the motor sitting it...throw a cam in it. easy work and pick up around 40-50 HP.
