GM Service manual on DVD applies to all GM vehicles from 1998 to 2005. Unzip the RAR files to a single ISO then burn to DVD or mount to virtual drive. Run setup.exe from DVD root to install application. Then run \SI_DATA\setup.exe to install the Database. Then run \SI_UPDATE\siupdate.exe to update the database. Some firewall programs will need an exception for the main program before it will allow access to run the application, C:\Program Files\GM SPO\ESI\TRANSBASE\TBKERN32.EXE The download is in 44 files each 100mb. Download
I have also uploaded it to Rapidshare. For thoes that do not have a rapidshare account one can be purchased for 4 days and allows you to download the 44 files in an hour with high speed internet. http://rapidshare.com/premium.html
Also Added MegaUpload to the list of places to download the files.
What do you mean a single iso, could you explain in more detail please.
.iso files are image files used to burn cd's or dvd's The option in your burning software would be "burn from image file" to create the actual cd / dvd disc
Whew! Just got them all downloaded. I am also unclear as to burning them to a DVD. I have them all saved in a folder. Do I just select the 44 files and burn them to the DVD, then run the commands? How do I get all 44 files saved to a single ISO for burning to the DVD?
I understand cars and guns better than computer commands. Sorry.

Use WIN RAR you can download a trial version
this will allow you to extract the files and build the iso.
The main reason for chopping of large files into smaller files is for transfer integrity. If you are disconnected in the middle of a download you can start over again at piece 15 and not piece 1
hope this helps
layman's terms You have one big file that has been chopped up into small pieces and compressed. These are the rar files. You must extract the files from the rar which will create or build the iso file which is what is used to create a dvd disc or cd disc in this case it is a dvd "snap shot" image file.
If you have dvd burning software such as nero all that would need to be done is to double click on the iso or select the option to burn from an image file.

Excellent instructions and help. Worked like a charm. My sincere thanks.
Firstly, thank you very much Z0SEXXX! Secondly, not so worky for me. I downloaded 44 rar files totaling 4.09 gig. I uncompressed them to a single ISO using tugzip35. I then mistakenly burned an exact copy of the ISO to a blank DVD. When I realized I needed to extract the ISO to an image my Sonic software kept spitting back a new blank DVD at me.
I extracted the ISO to a portable drive using undisker and then successfully burned a DVD of the extracted image (31 files = 59.8meg).
I ran the setup as instructed and other than a message about "unsupported XP home" it seemed to install fine. Then I ran SI_DATA\setup and got a message that a file in a cab was corrupt and only gave me the choice to close!
I'll give it another try later but I've had enough computing for one day. Thanks for the hand holding guys...
OK, I got the single iso file saved to a dvd (gm_service_98-05), but don't know how to run the setup.exe from the dvd root. The dvd has a single 4.15 GB ISO file on it, but that is as far as I can get.
Got it finally. Thanks to Quick Silver Z post. I did the same thing-copied the ISO file to the dvd without extracting the files. Once I extracted the ISO file, burning it to the DVD was easy. Works like a charm. I simply copied the entire extracted folder to the dvd. The installation wizard opened when I booted the dvd.
I used 7-zip (free util). I simply pointed it at the first rar file (gm_service_98-05.part01.rar) and it automatically found the other 43 rar files (located in the same folder of course) and built the single ISO file (gm_service_98-05.iso). From there I simply extracted the ISO to a folder and ran the install from there. The download took less than 1.5 hours and another half an hour to extract and install. Plus it all worked fine with Vista x64 (installed in admin mode).

That would be because you burnt the iso to a dvd as a data disc
You need to specifically choose in your burning software to burn from an image and then select the iso image
If you simply burn the iso to a disk then all you did was made a copy of the iso to the disc. That is not going to work.

What burning software are you using?
Yeah. The Roxio dvd burner would not allow me to burn it from an image. It kept asking me to put in a blank CD and ejected the dvd. The Data selection was the only way it would let me put it on the dvd. Weird. I don't use the dvd burner, so I don't know that much about it.
But it made extracting the iso back to a folder easier, and then I copied the contents back to a dvd. Worked great. Now I can take it to work and install the program on my office computer with ease, plus it is already installed on my home computer.
