Default I need a part number for the seal at the edge of the windshield...

I am trying to find the seal that goes at the bottom of the windshield on a 99. It goes by the plastic piece that the wiper arms pass through. The blades practically sit on it. Mine is coming up and I have a feeling that is why I get water on the passenger side, I have checked EVERYTHING else. Thanks!

You wouldn't happen to know how to install that thing, would you?

No, can't say that I do. I've only had my Vette for two weeks, and thats one of the items on the list for repair. I haven't even ordered mine yet. Hopefully someone will chime in on how to install it. Otherwise you may be able to call windshield installation company, and see if they could tell ya.

Well, it doesn't really look like it is the seal for the bottom of the glass, it looks more like a seal between that cowl piece and the glass.... If that makes sense. Anyways, I am going to pull it apart this weekend, I know I have to remove the wiper arms and that piece. I will take pics for you, and if I figure it out I will be sure to let you know. Thanks again for that link!

Yes, please do take pictures. I'm a total newbie, and need all the help I can get right now. This is the seal that seals between the glass and the cowl, correct? My wipers sit on mine now, where it has pulled away from the cowl piece in a couple of places.

If I remember correctly, the new cowl piece I bought came with this seal. The seal on the old cowl appears to to have been attached using some form of tape attaching the 2 together. Not sure how this was done.

DO NOT ORDER THE PART FROM CORVETTE AMERICA!!!! I got it today and it is absolute garbage. It is nothing like the original, it looks like some cheap foam weatherstripping I could have bought at Home Depot for less than $5. I am going to go to the stealership tomorrow and see if I can track down the part number. I called Corvette America to complain, and I will be returning it.

Hmm.. interesting. I hope I don't have to replace the cowl piece, there is nothing wrong with mine! Thanks for your help!

Hey man, sorry about that. But at least now we know. Please let me know what you find out about the seal from the dealership. I have to get one!

Hey, not your fault! A fellow forum member PM'd me with this part number #10299765 and it comes up on GM parts direct's website as a lower windshield seal. I am going to verify this with the dealership, but even at list price it is cheaper than the garbage I got from Corvette America!

The tape GM used seems to be some sort of special tape with a special adhesive.
I just bought a new cowl and it came installed on it.

"Retails"?

By "retails", you must mean what is commonly referred to as "dealer" or "vendor" price by parts department. This the price they would normally sell to another business such as a repair shop/garage, etc.

GM list price = $175.86
Fichtner Chev price = $89.88

Sounds like the cowl panel the wipers come through, is the only way to fix this seal, correct? And this is the correct part # 10446063, for a 99?

Mike

Im afraid to tell you that that seal on the cowl cover more than likely has nothing to do with water in the foot well.

It helps direct the water from the windshield to the cowl cover and down to the cowl drains. If water does get in that area there are drains on either side to get rid of it. You either have one of the following issues:

HVAC air box condensation drain is clogged.

Windshield piller seals are leaking and the water is draining down the right side piller and running down the door frame. Common on FRC and ZO6s but can happen on Coups and Verts.

**Upper door hinge seal is bad. This allows water to leak in to the drivers OR passengers foot well.

I have fixes for all three! Look at my LEAK CHECK post in the STICKEY SECTION.

PM me if you need help.
