Wait 10 seconds! Did you try other keys? Maybe the ignition stich contacts are getting worn and it can't read the key well anymore??

dougbfresh,
I tried both keys and cleaned with alcohol. No help. Thanks for reply.

8VETTE7,
My battery is good. I've checked it, charged it and checked it again.
I'll run thru the sequence again tomorrow, or should I say later today.
There's no relay in the passenger footwell because it has never had a recall done on it. I do have a stack of notices.
What makes the early C5s different from the later C5s? They all have the same electronics don't they?
There has to be a way to fix this. I don't cherish the thought of putting up with this for the rest of the time I have this car.
Thanks for your reply.

You did not mention WHAT fuse or fuses you pulled,or for how long.I went through this last week and here is what worked for me. After SEVERAL tries I reinstalled,,.then pulled fuses #s 13,,23,,25,,and 29. I let it sit for between 10 to 15 min and it worked. Till then I kept getting pull key and service column lock (with the fuel cut off)13,23,& 25 are all BCM fuses,Forgot what 29 is. These fuses are in the foot well box and diagram is on the inside of the lid. hope this helps!

0If you tried both keys after cleaning both of them with alcohol, then maybe the ignition switch contacts in the dash are dirty or worn out. Just because the contacts on the key pellet are clean, doesn’t mean the contacts in the keyhole are in good shape.

“Pull Key – Wait 10 seconds” doesn’t always mean a column lock motor issue.

I have never had to “clean” the pellet mating contacts in the keyhole, but use care to not flood the part with solvent (alcohol, etc). And then again, maybe the contacts inside the keyhole are worn and cleaning will not rectify the situation.
